Copy. Copy. Copy.

Copying is a great way to learn anything quickly. This is a meta-learning I had during my time at @10kdesigners.

Want to learn design? Recreate screens of your favorite app in Figma. It’s not as easy as it sounds. Making it pixel-perfect teaches you a lot of things. You get to internalize the design decisions like colors, spacing, typography, etc. being used.

Want to learn frontend?
Clone a web app. You don’t need to have revolutionary ideas.

Want to learn backend?
Copy an API. Write test cases.

Want to learn video editing?
Recreate the effects of a short reel you like.

Want to master copywriting?
Write out the best pieces word by word.

Remember we used to trace letters when learning the alphabet? It’s the same process.

Learn the rules like a pro, so you can break them like an artist. — Pablo Picasso
